Substance Misuse Nurse Service (NHS Western Isles)

The Substance Misuse Service offers specialist advice and Treatment towards recovery for those with dependence to alcohol or drugs.

This is a nurse-led service (with input from Consultant Psychiatrists and Primary care Doctors) for those who have dependence to alcohol or drugs (whether prescribed or otherwise) and would like to access treatment towards recovery. The service is available Monday to Thursday from 9am-5pm and Friday 9am-4.30pm, and promotes healthy living and reduction from harm, working alongside other agencies to the benefit of individuals and families.

Appointments can be held across NHS and GP sites and community settings.

SERVICES OFFERED:

Via Specialism Nurse Team:
* Medication assisted treatment, where appropriate for the following issues-
* Alcohol Dependence
* Drug dependence
* Poly substance use
* Dual Diagnosis
* Police Custody assessments
* Shared care with Community Mental Health Team, Psychiatry, GP, Western Isles Hospital.

Via Assertive Outreach Team:
* Community based Assertive outreach
* Harm reduction
* Brief Therapeutic interventions
* Medication Monitoring clinics.
* Community-based drop-in clinic (information provision, health promotion, harm-reduction advice, sign-posting, referral for treatment).
